Together, the siblings are a source of fascination in Malibu and the world over-especially as the offspring of the legendary singer, Mick Riva. Everyone wants to be around the famous Rivas- Nina, the talented surfer and supermodel brothers Jay and Hud, one a championship surfer, the other a renowned photographer and their adored baby sister, Kit. It’s the day of Nina Riva’s annual end-of-summer party, and anticipation is at a fever pitch. Malibu Rising contained a heart-warming ending that encapsulated the whole journey of the novel and it is why I enjoyed this piece of literature.A lifetime holding it together. He brought them into the crazy world and then helped close that chapter. This was a well-written story, and I found the fact that Mick was the source of the fire completely perfect. All of the siblings found something from that party and are now able to move forward and begin a new chapter. My favourite part was that Nina obtained clarity and that it is okay to be selfish.
The end, when the fire took the house, to me that was the closing of the chapter on the tumultuous Riva past and a sign of good faith going forward. What I did like was how everything came full circle. All of the characters I adored and the back and forth with the history of parents plus random intersperses of party-goers thoughts even if I thought they could be eliminated worked so well and it was great to listen too. It was a good book to listen to regarding perseverance and what family means. I don't have any deep thoughts or confusing thoughts about Malibu Rising.
